# Generative UI

Let an agent return structured UI, rendered by the Console or your own application, instead of only text and tool calls.

Today an agent's output is text, tool calls, and files. Generative UI lets an agent emit typed UI elements, such as forms, tables, choices, and progress views, that the Console or your own application renders, with the user's response flowing back into the run.

This page is planned and not yet written, because the capability it describes is not yet
generally available. The structure is here so you can see where it fits; the notice comes off
when it ships.

## What this page will cover

- The UI element types an agent can emit and how they appear in the event stream.
- Rendering elements in the Console and in your own application.
- Returning user input to the run and how it relates to approvals.
- What is recorded in evidence when a user interacts with generated UI.

## Meanwhile

- [Stream and replay events](/guides/run/stream-and-replay-events) covers the event stream generated UI would ride on.
- [Approval-required actions](/guides/run/approval-required-actions) is the structured user interaction the platform supports today.
- [Answer approvals in the Console](/guides/run/answer-approvals-in-the-console) shows how the Console renders that interaction.
