# Webhooks

Receive an HTTP request from Tanomis when a lifecycle event happens, such as a run finishing or an approval being requested, instead of polling.

Today your application learns that a run finished by following its event stream or polling its status. Webhooks let Tanomis call an endpoint you register when a lifecycle event happens, such as a run completing, failing, or pausing for an approval, so your backend can react without holding a connection open.

This page is planned and not yet written, because the capability it describes is not yet
generally available. The structure is here so you can see where it fits; the notice comes off
when it ships.

## What this page will cover

- Register an endpoint for a tenant and choose which lifecycle events it receives.
- The delivery payload and how to verify its signature.
- Retries, ordering, and deduplicating a delivery you have already handled.
- How deliveries appear in evidence.

## Meanwhile

- [Stream and replay events](/guides/run/stream-and-replay-events) is how your application follows a run to completion today.
- [Invoke from your application](/guides/run/invoke-from-your-application) covers the run lifecycle a webhook would report on.
- [Event triggers](/guides/run/event-triggers) is the inverse: an event elsewhere starting a run.
